What is an Authorizer?

The primary function of a public Charter School Authorizer is to engage in oversight of the schools they authorize in order to ensure the schools fulfill their purposes and responsibilities as public charter schools in the state of Minnesota, as well as honor the obligations agreed upon in the schools’ contracts with their authorizer. This is achieved through regular monitoring and oversight, as well as comprehensive performance evaluations of schools, which ultimately inform reauthorization decisions.
